What SEO is

SEO and SEM are digital marketing techniques that focus on improving the visibility of a website in search results, but they present some important differences that we must clarify. While SEO focuses on the organic optimization of a website, SEM focuses on the paid promotion of a website in search results.

  • SEO focuses on optimizing the website to appear in the first search results organically. That is, without paying for it. It is based on improving the user experience and the relevance of the information on the website to search engines.
  • SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is a technique that focuses on promoting the website through paid ads in search results. That is, through the use of advertising in Google AdWords or other online advertising platforms.

SEO can be divided into two main categories: On Page and Off Page.

  • SEO On Page: Refers to all the techniques and practices that are applied directly on the website in order to improve its optimization and positioning in search results.   • SEO Off Page: On the other hand, SEO Off Page refers to all those techniques and practices that are applied outside the website to improve its positioning. This includes building quality links (backlinks), participation in forums and social networks, promotion in directories and related websites, among other aspects. They are based on the idea that Google values the external links that a website or a specific page receives to get an idea of its authority. We could say that Off Page SEO feeds back on the positioning of the web based on On Page factors. The better your positioning, the easier it will be for you to get external links pointing to your website, from webmasters and authors who see it as a reference. And that way, you will boost your positioning through off page seo optimization.

Differences between Google SEO and Bing SEO

Search engines like Google and Bing work in a similar way, but they also have some differences that you should be aware of if you want to optimize your website for them.

  • Google is the most used search engine worldwide, and it has a lot of data and algorithms to rank search results. For this reason, it is a bit more difficult to optimize for Google than for the other search engines.
  • Bing, on the other hand, is an easier search engine to optimize for, but it has a smaller number of users than Google. However, it can be a good option if you want to attract traffic to your website in an easier and faster way.
