In keeping with its tradition of commemorating important dates and milestones, Google launched its Halloween 2024 Doodle. This time, the tech giant’s creative design also features a mini-game in which you help the cat Momo battle ghostly enemies by drawing magical symbols as she ascends through layers of the atmosphere.

To enjoy some fun with Google’s Halloween Doodle, simply access the search engine from any device. In the space typically occupied by the company’s logo above the search bar, you will now see a purple cover featuring an astronaut-helmeted cat and a play button. Just click to start playing.

Additionally, if you wish to continue helping Momo even after Halloween, you can do so anytime through this link.

Momo the Cat Returns as the Star of the Halloween Doodle

This year’s charming mini-game is particularly special, as it marks the third installment of Magic Cat Academy!. Google first introduced Momo in its Halloween 2016 Doodle, where she fought ghosts at her magic school. Momo returned as the star in the Halloween 2020 Doodle, this time battling spirits in the ocean depths.

As an extra fun fact, Momo the cat is real! She is the pet of Juliana Chen, a Doodler on the team responsible for creating these designs. The idea to feature a cat as the protagonist of the 2016 Halloween Doodle partly stemmed from the winning character in the 2015 Halloween Doodle, Candy Cup, where the witch Yellow was accompanied by her black cat.

What is a Google Doodle?

Google Doodles are special creative designs that alter and play with the original Google logo to celebrate holidays, commemorations, or significant milestones of various kinds. A Doodle might celebrate a World Day, a cultural or sports event, holidays like Christmas or Halloween, and even honor notable individuals.

These designs temporarily replace the original logo on Google’s search page during the timeframe connected to the celebration. Doodles were first used in 1998, featuring a stick figure that informed Google users that the entire team was at the Burning Man festival, so any issues might take longer than usual to resolve.
