The product research process is essential in every purchase process, and Amazon aims to simplify it as much as possible to provide a better experience for its customers. This desire is reflected in its latest major innovation driven by generative AI: the audio summaries of product details.
This generative audio feature relies on digital shopping experts based on LLM (large language models) that create brief summaries from the information collected in the product description, reviews from other customers, and data from across the web. In this way, consumers can save time and access highlighted information in a simple and engaging manner.
At present, Amazon has begun testing the audio summaries in the Amazon Shopping app within the U.S. for selected customers. This feature is also not displayed for all products, only those that typically require some prior analysis before purchase. To activate it, one must click on the “Hear the highlights” button.
The tech company expects to integrate this feature into more product detail pages and for more customers in the U.S. in the upcoming months.
